Even the Aussies are raving!
The Nordship 35 DS has been tested in the Australian Magazine Cruising Helmsman and with the results issued in the Febuary number came the following entries...
"This is a well-built boat that will suit a couple who want an escape machine that will look after them if caught out offshore in a blow" and "The angle of vanishing stability alone should rank it near the top of your list if looking for a deck saloon in this price range for bluewater sailing."
The Australians like the boat so much, that it has been nominated as "the best imported sailboat in Australia" by Australian Marine Awards.
The judges shall see all nominated yachts in Sydney on the 21st of April and the prize will be given to the winner in June.

A grateful customer has sent a photograph of the Mast Step in action in Antarctica. Now that's what we like to hear about. Any similar news or images would be much appreciated.

Bright "Surface mount" LEDs are
easy to install as retrofits - and ideal for ambient lighting
Calibra Marine International are offering an exciting new range of extremely bright, compact, surface mount LED lighting bars, to the already existing range of LED courtesy lights, which will allow builders and owners to quickly and easily install or add lighting wherever it's required.
These slim, brushed aluminium units, typically measuring just 10mm deep by 30mm wide by 210mm long, contain 3 LED's which produce a total of 60 lumens (about the same as a 30 watts lamp) which is adequate to read by.
Because of their size and weight, mounting couldn't be simpler and, apart from the need to run the thin cable back to an appropriate 12V feed source, this can be achieved by using self adhesive material or a couple of small screws.
The colour options available are warm white and red . Consumption is minimal. Lamp life is an amazing 150,000 hours (beware, however, this only applies to lamps of this high "quality", not to all LED's). So if you wanted to you could turn the lights on when you installed them and never turn them off again! It also means that leaving a few lights on as a "security" measure or to light your path back on board is practical and won't drain your batteries.
Take a look around your boat. It's probable that you will find a few places where some additional light would improve things. Now there's a modern and convenient solution!
