About Calibra Marine Equipment

Overlooking the Hamble River, in amongst the clanging of shrouds and fluttering of sails, one cannot help being inspired to offer a choice of products to compliment the beautiful boats out there. Established in 1996, we started our existence as a rigging shop and sail loft at the end of a cobbled street in Dartmouth.

Not having a brand of masts & furling systems, we were offered to become the UK distributors for Nemo of Italy, who are still one of our main suppliers of furlers and hatches – as well as their famous three part Universal gangway.

Tartan Yachts, the American company were keen to find representation in the UK, and 1998 we became the UK agents which led us to setting up the Dartmouth office of Network Yachts Brokers as a vehicle for selling used boats.

We dabbled further in marine equipment and were pleased to extend our range into Cabin lights of Denmark, J prop and a few other items.

Wanting to move closer to the action and onto the high street of yachts, we set our sites on The Solent and in 2012 took premises at Deacons Boatyard, where were are today. Our early years in The Solent were involved in the commissioning of Bavaria, managing the upgrade and refit of customer yachts and acquiring further agencies for boats and equipment. We became the UK agents for Nordship Yachts and also aquired the Hamble office for Network Yacht Brokers.

Today we have broadened our equipment range to include high quality products, offering a dynamic service both to the yacht owners as well as many of the prestigious boatyards.

The experience of the past has led us to believe in top quality service for our customers by maintaining an in-depth knowledge of our products and business and all it encompasses. It’s a business we are passionate about, so helping others enjoy it too just adds to the fun.
